Went to Betty's Midwest Kitchen located in Aman Suria to have a birthday dinner with family in conjunction with my dad's birthday. First time for all of us except for Jo who's been here before.
Some of the dish name on the menu was really amusing. "Boston Butt" .. "Dog Food"..
This is apparently Betty's Midwest Kitchen's famous side dish the "Dog Food" for RM12. I'm truly sorry my picture really made it rather unappetizing (did not manage to colour correct the white balance properly) but it was really not bad. The taste was rather familiar and then my mom was spot on - the brown gravy tasted like the gravy you find from Ikea's meatballs. Ah yes! My sister is a fan of it but in all honesty, I'd pick KFC cheesy wedges any day :P
Grilled Beer Braised Boston Butt for RM33.90. This was great. You could really smell and taste the beer in the pork shoulder. Really tender meat. The mashed potatoes was good. The peas that came with it was great too.
Pork Chop with Country Gravy for RM27.00. Same gravy with Dog Food. Nothing really special and you could get jelak after a while because of the sauce. Was contemplating the pork chop with country gravy or with apples. Should have opted for pork chop with apples instead.
Aglio Olio with Mushrooms at RM18.00. I felt this was a little overpriced. The portion was rather small and they were quite stingy on the mushrooms. A little letdown.
Country Fried Chicken at RM18.00. Well, you can't go wrong with fried chicken, can you? :P
You can find a lot of things hanging on the walls in Betty's Midwest Kitchen. Pretty little decos to give you the American restaurant feel.
Pretty bottles at the "little bar" :D
Overall, I feel the food was okay, I wouldn't come all the way here to eat. We came early because Betty's Midwest Kitchen does not take reservations on weekends. When we were finished with our dinner, the restaurant was full. I noticed most of the workers were foreigners but had no issues with communication or service. Food was served really quick too.
